ABSTRACT

The study investigated the influence of work life balance and performance of academics among University of Benin staff. The specific objectives are established to ascertain how the implementation of flexible work arrangements impact performance of academics. determine how positive workplace culture contribute to improved performance of academics. examine if paid time off (pto) policies have a discernible effect on performance of academics.to determine the influence of financial compensation on performance of academics. This study employed both descriptive and inferential statistics in analyzing the data obtained. The descriptive statistics used include frequency distribution, mean and standard deviation. Data collection was through the use of questionnaire (primary source) which were administered 155 respondents in Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Hemin with a total 356 questionnaire retrieved from the respondents and used for analysis. Multiple regression was used as an inferential statistic to test the research hypotheses. All hypotheses were tested at 5% level of significance. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS 22.0) software was as platform used for all the analyses. The findings from the study revealed that that flexible work arrangements had a significant influence on Performance of Academics among academic and non-academic staff of University of Benin. The study found out that there is a significant relationship between Workplace culture and Performance of Academics among academic and non-academic staff of University of Benin. Furthermore, the study found out that Paid Time Off significantly influenced Performance of Academies among academic and non-academic staff of University of Benin. It was recommended that adequate compensation should be awarded to extra workload. This will encourage staff commitment and job satisfaction. Management of Universities should introduce Telework (telecommuting or virtual learning process) arrangement whereby an academic employee, through internet facilities can perform his or her job responsibilities at a remote place.
