WOMEN’S PARTICIPATION IN THE CULTURAL ACTIVITIES IN BENIN

SUMMARY

This work focus on women’s participation in the cultural activities in Benin as regard the Igue festival in the Benin kingdom. It discusses the history and cultural life of the Benin people, it examine the History of Igue Festival in the Benin Kingdom, women participation in the Igue Festival as well as the role and importance of Festivals to the Benin people. Cultural norms and values are ingrained in the beliefs of every community. There are a set of values and norms that are ingrained and instilled in each culture as religious or cultural practices by which particular individuals attempt to connect with the Supreme Being or to celebrate their long aged historic past.
