ABSTRACT
Women played a crucial and complex role in the precolonial economy of the Ugboha tribe in Nigeria's culturally rich Esanland. We have learned to grasp the depth and breadth of their influence on the economic structure and social fabric of the clan by a thorough analysis of their contributions to agriculture, trade, craftwork, and social organization. In Ugboha, women were primarily important in agricultural production. In addition to ensuring the clan's sustenance, their involvement in farming chores like planting, weeding, and harvesting made a considerable contribution to excess output.
