ABSTRACT
Ogba River in Edo State southern Nigeria is an urban river that passes through the heart of Benin City. It serves as a critical water resource to the inhabitant of the catchment area. In the present study we investigated surface water quality using water physico-chemical parameters recorded seasonally from August to September 2021 (wet season) and January 2021 (dry season). Four sampling sites were selected along the course of the river from upstream (site 1) to downstream (site 4) associated with various anthropogenic activities. Of the twenty-one (21) water physico-chemical parameters analysed, two parameters namely, copper (0.372 mg/l) and zinc (0.35 mg/l) were above Nigerian Industrial Standard (NIS) guidelines.
