ABSTRACT
This study investigates voter apathy during the 2023 presidential elections, focusing on Edo State as a case study. Despite the pivotal nature of the elections, a significant portion of the electorate exhibited low participation rates. This research aims to identify underlying factors contributing to voter apathy, including socio-economic variables, political disillusionment, and lack of electoral awareness. Through surveys and interviews, the study gathers qualitative and quantitative data to analyze the relationships between these factors and voter turnout. The findings will illuminate the barriers to engagement in the democratic process, providing insights for policymakers, political parties, and civil society organizations in their efforts to enhance voter participation in future elections. Ultimately, this project seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of electoral behavior in Nigeria, paving the way for strategies to foster democratic engagement.
