ABSTRACT
The significance of voter participation in fostering stable democracies in Nigeria cannot be overemphasized. Good democratic governance in the country is predicted to result from a tight adherence to democratic ideas and ideals. In light of how the election process is impacted, it demonstrates the necessity to revitalize the deteriorating democratic institutions, attitudes, resources, and infrastructure at all levels of society through improved voter participation in electoral activities, particularly before, during, and after elections. The study was premised on the following research questions: what are the factors that influence voter apathy among Nigerian citizens, and what are the attitudes of Nigerian citizens towards voting in elections? How conversant are Nigerian citizens with political happenings? What are the motivating factors behind voter apathy in Nigeria? And what are the impacts of voter apathy on democratic consolidation in Nigeria? The study adopted survey research with a study population of fifty.
