Summary
The study examined the factors that hinder the academic performance of Pupils with visual impairment in Primary Schools in Oredo L.G.A of Edo state. The study aimed to find out whether teaching materials used in special schools affect negatively the academic performance of learners with visual impairment, whether the teaching methods used in special schools affect negatively the academic performance of learners with visual impairment, to investigate challenges faced by teachers when teaching learners with visual impairments in special schools. To provide direction and sharpen the focus of this study, four (4) research questions were raised and four hypotheses were formulated. The sample of this study was made of twenty-three visually Impaired students. From Uwa Primary School and Ihiogbe Primary School (Visually Impaired Unit) in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. A simple total sampling technique was utilized to select all respondents. The instrument for the study is a questionnaire titled The Factors that hinder Academic Performance of Pupils with Visual Impairment in Primary School in Oredo L.G.A of Edo state” (QFHAPPWVI). The instrument was validated by experts in the Department of Educational Evaluation and Counselling Psychology
