Abstract

This study was carried out to investigate on utilizing Adult Education programmes in promoting digital literacy for women traders in Benin Metropolis.

Five research questions were generated and analyzed from the study. The study adopted descriptive survey, while the population for the study consists of seventy-five (75) women traders in Benin Metropolis. A stratified and random sampling technique was used and data were collected using questionnaire instrument and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistic. The descriptive statistic was used to analyzed the research question raised that guide the study, while the inferential statistic was used to test the hypothesis.

Findings of the study revealed that the perceptions of women traders regarding digital tools for learning is of a high standard, and digital literacy has empowered majority of the women traders financial market strategy, which has influenced their trading outcome and income. It was further revealed that literacy Education is a better Adult Education programme in promoting digital literacy and should be allowed to continuously promote digital literacy, it was also revealed that there is a great relationship between digital literacy and the business growth for women traders in Benin Metropolis which has resulted in the business growth and development of women traders in Benin Metropolis. It was recommended that Adult Education programmes should be continuously allowed to promote digital literacy. also Women traders in Benin Metropolis should be granted access to technology. It was further recommended that Collaboration of relevant stakeholders, such as government    agencies, NGOs, Educational and private sector organizations, should leverage resources, expertise, and institution networks in promoting digital literacy for women traders, as Effort should also be geared towards encouraging more women traders in Benin Metropolis in engaging digital literacy programmes.
