ABSTRACT
The essence of this study was to produce an updated Utility map of the University of Benin, for creating layers for the data sets and overlaying for spatial queries and analysis. The method used for the fieldwork, was the land survey method. Data was acquired using Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS – Tersus David RTK), which was used to get the X Y Z coordinate of the selected points. The data acquired were processed using land AUTOCAD environment. Which was used to obtain the infrastructure map. The end product of this project will help to locate all underground utilities easily. The project location was also indicated with clarity and the scope and the specification required for this particular project. Project planning, methodology, data acquisition, processing, plotting and the map display were fully discussed. Finally, analysis was carried out on the land use based on its distribution. The possible solution to the problem encountered was recommended in order to reduce or eliminate future occurrences. Most of the data obtained, sketched diagrams and plotted maps are also attached at the back of this report as an appendix.
