ABSTRACT
With the attainment of independence, the influence of women grew and they sort for gender equality and inclusiveness in all spheres of the society there by promoting the feminist term that have been dormant the previous eras. The Beijing Conference of 1975 promoted the notion of gender equality and gender balancing in the society. Post-colonial Africa has seen the emergence of great women who have in one way or the other contributed to nation building and growth of African and Nigerian affluence in the world scene . The idea of great personalities can never be overemphasized following the fact that they are persons who left an indelible mark in history. Chapter one examined the introduction of the study, which capture aim and objectives, literature review, methodology and scope of the study. Chapter two of the study elucidated the manifestations and impact of women activities in Edo state politics and governance. Chapter three revealed the effects of women under-representation in politics and governance in Edo State Nigeria and an assessment of the profile of women who were successful in politics and governance in Edo state Nigeria in the Fourth Republic and it also observed the various challenges faced by women in politics in Edo State.
