ABSTRACT
This research work seek to examine true federalism; a panacea for rapid development in Nigeria. The study made use of questionnaire to obtain data from respondent. Four objectives were raised for the study. The study found that found that the federating units (states and local governments) maintain autonomy over the most basic issues that affect their people. It also found that discovered that most respondents believed that Powers are shared between the various tiers of government in a manner that unnecessary interference becomes impossible and thus recommend that The government should put non-partisan machinery in motion to review all various ideas being promoted in the current public debate on political cum economic restructuring in Nigeria.
