ABSTRACT
This essay examines the concept of trauma in Ikechukwu Asika's Tamara and Paula D’Arcy’s Song for Sarah. The portrayal of trauma in the novels serves as a medium for readers to emphathize, understand, and engage with the emotional landscapes of characters who are struggling with the aftermath of distressing events. The study will explore how the two novels expose the effects of traumatic events, loss and depression in the life of an individual. This essay will examine the influence of traumatic events and happenings on humans against the background of their respective societies and class by engaging with trauma theory and psychological analysis. And also the study will discuss the relevance of the elements or social constructs as they relate to our society, as well as the plot and powerful use of characterization and themes in both novels. This essay adopts the qualitative method of research; specifically textual method analysis. This essay analyzes the creative and expressive illustration of the themes of loss and depression as portrayed in Ikechukwu Asika’s Tamara and Paula D’Arcy’s Song for Sarah.
