TRANSLATION AND STYLISTIC EFFECT OF LANGUAGE USE IN THE TEXT“ẸSEIKHỌ”

ABSTRACT
This work is concerned with the translation and stylistic effect of language use by Ikponmwosa Osemwegie in his drama text “ẸSEIHKỌ”.
The purpose of this work is to help students and researchers to understand the text “ẸSEIKHỌ” through translation process. It is to expose the stylistic effect of stylistic effect of language use in this text.
Many linguists have written about translation and the use of translation; like Uwajeh (2003). But none have used an Ẹdo text particularly “Ẹseikho” as an exposition of the stylistic effect of the use of dramatic techniques, which this work has done.
Uwajeh’s theory of translation which employed the four level of translation model was adopted for this work. The data was collected from ACT 1 and ACT 2 SCENE 1.
After using the translation model of Uwajeh, it was discovered it will be most resourceful if other linguists can take up the challenge of looking at other literary text used by teachers in secondary and tertiary institutions, learning Ẹdo would become an intresting venture.
