ABSTRACT
This work which is titled Totemism among Orogun People of Delta State aims to examine and identify the different totems used by the Orogun people. It is also interested in understanding the cultural and social significance of totems among the Orogun people. Descriptive and analytic methods were employed in this research work and it was revealed among others that the totem in Orogun community is not seen as god but a link to their origin. The study show that this totems (Ogborigbo and Omua River) are held with high esteem and reflects in the daily life of the Orogun people and also to continue the practices lay down by their ancestors. One of the recommendations is to foster collaboration with Orogun community leaders, elders, and traditional authorities to ensure that accurate information about totemism is disseminated within the community. Their endorsement and involvement can help preserve and promote this cultural practice.
