ABSTRACT

Emulsion paints are widely used in construction and interior decoration, but their susceptibility to deterioration due to microbial contamination poses a significant concern. This study investigates the total heterotrophic bacterial counts associated with deteriorated emulsion paints in selected Governmental establishments within different Local Governments areas in Benin Metropolis. Samples of deteriorated emulsion paints were collected from various locations, and bacterial counts were determined using standard microbiological techniques. The results revealed a diverse microbial population, with total heterotrophic bacterial counts having different range values of colony-forming units per milliliter (CFU/ml).
