ABSTRACT
The Ikpoba Dam, situated in a region of critical ecological importance, serves as a vital water resource and ecosystem provider. Rapid urbanization and climate change in the vicinity of the dam have led to significant topographic alterations, posing potential threats to its sustainability. This project focuses on employing cutting-edge geospatial technologies and remote sensing techniques to detect and analyze topographic changes around the Ikpoba Dam over a specific time frame. Our study begins with the acquisition of high-resolution satellite imagery and Landsat data for the Ikpoba Dam area spanning multiple years. Using advanced image processing and GIS (Geographic Information System) tools, we create detailed topographic models for each time period, capturing the landscape's finegrained features. These models are then compared to identify and quantify changes in elevation, land cover, and vegetation density.
