ABSTRACT
This study investigates Usefulness of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Students’ Performance in university education, focusing on its impact on student academic performance, career readiness, and lifelong learning skills. Utilizing a descriptive survey research design, data were gathered from 58 students in CIT department in the University of Benin through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Findings indicate that Artificial Intelligence tools significantly enhance teaching quality and learning experiences by providing personalized feedback, adaptive learning pathways, and intelligent tutoring systems. These technologies cater to individual student needs, resulting in improved academic performance and comprehension. However, the study also identifies some resistance to the widespread adoption of Artificial Intelligence due to concerns about the replacement of traditional teaching methods and potential biases in Artificial Intelligence algorithms. The research highlights the long-term benefits of Artificial Intelligence, including improved academic achievement, career readiness, and the development of lifelong learning skills. Artificial Intelligence tools are shown to facilitate personalized learning, foster better student engagement, and optimize administrative processes, thus contributing to more effective educational practices. Despite the promising advantages, the study acknowledges the limitations posed by the dynamic nature of Artificial Intelligence technology, the specific educational settings, and the sample size. It underscores the necessity for adequate training and support for educators to maximize the effectiveness of Artificial Intelligence integration in education. The study contributes valuable insights for educators and policymakers to optimize the use of Artificial Intelligence in education, ensuring enhanced student success and preparation for future challenges. It calls for continued research and empirical investigation into the multifaceted impacts of Artificial Intelligence on education to inform the development of policies and practices that harness the full potential of Artificial Intelligence while addressing its challenges. By providing a comprehensive empirical analysis, this research aims to facilitate informed decision-making in educational practices and policies, ultimately promoting a balanced and effective integration of Artificial Intelligence technologies in higher education.
