ABSTRACT
This study investigated the United Nations and human right (A case study of Nigeria) Three objectives were stated to guide the study. To examine the challenges of upholding human right and to identify the steps taken by United Nations through International Organizations to establish human rights in Nigeria and also to investigate the level of human right violation. The study had the main focus to examine the United Nations and Human Rights in Africa using Nigeria. It was proven that the level of human right violations in Nigeria is drastically high and some of the challenges upholding human rights are discrimination, police brutality, domestic violence, findings were presented and suggested recommendations were to Strengthen the legal framework for human rights protection in Nigeria, Increase funding for human rights organizations and initiatives in Nigeria, Improve the training and capacity building of law enforcement officials and judicial officers on human rights issues.
