ABSTRACT
In this study , we applied the transportation models in solving the problem of high cost of transportation in the paint industry where Kings paint company was considered as a case study , data on the cost of transportating drums of paint from 3 sources to 12 destinations all situated within Benin -Delta environs was collected , 3 initial feasible solution methods ( North-west corner rule , least cost method and Vogel Approximation method ) was adopted in finding an initial feasible solution to the transportation problem , of the 3 initial feasible solutions obtained. The Vogel Approximation method was further improved for optimality using the modified Distribution method .
