This research has evaluated the festival Okposokeren done every year in Ugboegungun community and Itsekiri speaking people who carry out the Okposokeren Festival every year to appease the gods/deities of the land so as for the land to keep prospering as it has been and in the course of doing this we also were able to find out the mode of celebration, duration of celebration and above all how the land Ugboegungun came to be. This research seeks to explore the ways in which a people festival can be their way of life, a culmination of rituals and art, a restatement of their values, traditions and world view, and a rite of passage ensuring a continuity between the past, present and future. It describes the Okposokeren festival, a yearly rain festival among the Itsekiri people of Nigerian. A discussion of the origin of the Itsekiri people and of the Okposokeren festival, and of Itsekiri taboos is followed by a description of the following aspects of the festival (cleansing ceremonies, the fore- festival, the opening day, masquerades, dances, ritual 51 rounds through the street and compounds, women performances and the departure of the visiting spirits.
