ABSTRACT
This study has examined the role of United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in the fight against poverty and child abuse in Nigeria. Worldwide, poverty and child abuse has been recognized as major factors militating against the survival of children. Due to the fact that this phenomena cut across societies, it has attracted attention over the years. In Nigeria poverty has been identified as a significant driver of child abuse. Several governmental and non-governmental organizations and bodies including the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF), World Bank, International Committee of Red Cross Society (ICRC), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), amongst others have been involved in efforts to address poverty and child abuse in Nigeria.
