ABSTRACT
This study looks into how television is used to combat children in Benin City who beg on the streets. The purpose of this study was to ascertain if television as a means of information dissemination is an appropriate tool for the purpose of this study among the masses and to ascertain the extent to which television airs shows relevant to street begging by children in Benin City.
The goal of this study is to investigate the daily routines, means of sustainance, and coping mechanisms used by young street beggars in Benin City. It looked into the reasons behind street begging as well as its frequency and effects in Nigeria.
The research objectives were created to direct the researcher in his work in order to accomplish these goals. For this study, the survey research approach was employed. The population of Benin City's Egor and Oredo local government region allowed the researcher to use the questionnaire to choose a suitable sample size of 400 respondents.
The researcher discovered that children in Benin City who beg on the streets are greatly aided by television. Therefore, this study suggests that television, through its campaign programmes has had a good impact in preventing children from begging on the streets.
