ABSTRACT

This study evaluated the role of tax education in enhancing tax compliance among individuals in Edo State that are recognized by the Edo Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) for the period 2023. The study was carried out with the use of primary data generated from questionnaires distributed to respondents for the period on which the descriptive statistics test and the multivariate regression analysis were used. Tax education was represented by electronic taxpayer education, print media, and stakeholder sensitization programme, and three research hypotheses were formulated from each of the variables. The result of the findings revealed that all the variables (electronic taxpayer education, print media, and stakeholder sensitization programme) had a positive and significant relationship with tax compliance among individuals in Edo State. The study recommends that the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) should expand electronic and print taxpayer education using digital platforms and resources, intensify sensitization programs through outreach campaigns tailored to stakeholder groups, collaborate with professional bodies and institutions for knowledge dissemination, continuously evaluate initiatives for improvement, and research combining strategies to enhance tax compliance across diverse taxpayers.
