SUMMARY
The internalization of the war where outside powers interfered with the conflict was one of the most crucial and controversial aspects for the prolongation of the Nigeria-Biafra war also known as the Nigeria Civil War. Both sides needed the help of outside powers if they were to win the war. Nigeria on her part wanted military aid and nothing more while Biafra wished for recognition from outsiders because when a region declares itself statehood, it does not require any legal process to validate it but the means to defend itself and recognition from other states in the international system to validate its statehood. If not for the involvement of foreign powers in the war, the war would not have reached the magnitude it.
