THE ROLE OF SCHOOL FACILITIES ON THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN OREDO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EDO STATE

ABSTRACT

The study investigated the Role of School Facilities on Academic Performance of Secondary School Students in Oredo Local Government Area, Edo State. In order to provide a guide for the study, four research questions were raised. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design. The population of the student was made up of 26,785 secondary school students drawn from 12 public secondary schools in Oredo Local Government of Edo State. The sample of the study consists of 100 secondary school students drawn from the population of the study. The instrument used in generating data for the study was a close ended questionnaire drafted by the researcher herself . The data generated with the questionnaire were analyzed with the use of tables and samples percentage. From the analysis, it was discovered that there are no adequate facilities for use in secondary school in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. Lack of adequate facilities in secondary school have negative effect on students’ academic performance.
