ABSTRACT

The study focuses on the role of radio as a means of communication in national development using Sapientia 95.3FM as a case study in Anambra state. The objective of the study was to examine the role of radio in initiating national development, to ascertain whether the radio can serve as a tool to educate the rural areas on the need for national development, as well as ascertain the extent at which the radio programmes can be employed positively to enforce national development. The survey design was adopted for this study with the aid of 50 questionnaires which was administered to 50 respondent of the Sapientia media house. The data which was presented were analyzed and presented with the aid of percentages, frequency table and mean score. The main findings of the research revealed the numerous ways through which radio programmes interacts effectively with their targeted audience. In conclusion, this research work found radio worthy of stimulating national development by the aid of radio programmes and its content.
