ABSTRACT
This study examined how nutrition influences athletic performance among Human Kinetics
students. It aimed to determine the effects of proper nutrition on their physical capabilities,
endurance, and overall well-being. Furthermore, the study explored the challenges students
face in maintaining a nutritious diet and the strategies they use to meet their dietary
requirements.
A descriptive survey research design was employed, utilizing a self-structured
questionnaire as the research instrument. Data were collected from a randomly selected
sample of 100 Human Kinetics students from a total population of 350.
Demographic information was analyzed using frequency and percentage, while
responses to specific questions were examined through mean and standard deviation. The
hypotheses were tested using the chi-square statistical method. Findings revealed that
proper nutrition plays a crucial role in enhancing athletic performance by boosting
endurance, strength, and recovery. Additionally, maintaining a balanced diet was found to ix
positively influence students’ academic concentration, general health, and career
opportunities in sports and fitness-related fields.
Based on these findings, several recommendations were made. Student-athletes should
prioritize nutrition as a key component of their training routine. Educational institutions
should provide sufficient nutritional resources and guidance to support informed dietary
decisions. Moreover, student-athletes should be encouraged to adopt well-balanced diets
that contribute to both their sports performance and academic success.
