ABSTRACT

This study evaluated ‘The Role of Mass Media in Shaping Public Perception on the Israel and Hamas War: A detail analysis was drawn from Oredo local government area of Edo state and Jalingo local government area of Taraba State for a period of four (4) months. In conducting this research the study employed “survey method”. This method was use to better understand individual or group viewpoints on Israel-Hamas war. The survey consist of well-structured questions and questionnaire which was carefully designed to elicit specific information from participants, with clear and concise questions that were easy to understand. The questionnaire consisted of multiple-choice and Likert scale, which allowed participants to select from pre-defined response options. At the end of the findings it was revealed that mass media holds substantial power in shaping public perception of conflicts, though this influence is perceived differently depending on the medium and method of reporting.

Some of the results suggest a need for more balanced and multi-dimensional media coverage to foster a more informed and empathetic public understanding of the Israel- Hamas war.
