ABSTRACT
The impact of local government as an instrument for rural development cannot be over emphasized, neither can it be neglected as it ensures the effective and efficient running of the community. The study is meant to show the reason why local government is important to our community and the benefits. It employs the use of Esan west local government as a case study describing the impact of local government in the transformation of the area and how it reflects the nations as a whole. If employs the use of charts and other statistical data, and also a well composed and organized questionnaire, which in this case, a close ended questionnaire is used. The secondary source, which entails published materials, is equally used to collect data for this study.
