ABSTRACT
This study examined the role of Information Communication Technology on News Gathering and Dissemination in the Broadcast Media, using Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) and Independent Television (ITV) as case study. This study was guided by the following objectives: To examine the role of Information Communication Technology on news gathering and dissemination in broadcast media organisation, To ascertain how ICT has influence the news gathering and dissemination culture of broadcast media organisations, To ascertain to what extent ICT has shape the behaviour of the broadcast media organisation in terms of news gathering and dissemination, To ascertain the level of exposure and usage of ICT in the area of news gathering and dissemination by broadcast organisations. The research design adopted for the study is the survey research method. The survey research design was used with questionnaire as an instrument; Seventy nine (79) respondents were studied from Edo broadcasting service (EBS) and independent television (ITV). Data collected will be analysed using simple frequencies and simple percentage. Findings showed that it is therefore imperative to note that Information Communication Technology have had a tremendous role especially positively on news gathering and dissemination in the broadcast media organisations, Information Communication Technology should be fully used and utilized in carrying out news gathering and dissemination in the broadcast media organisations, Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) and independent Television (ITV) should promote their journalists/staff through the use of training, workshops and sophisticated equipment and adequate provision of power supply should be provided frequently so as to make them to carry out their duties smoothly , because without power supply one cannot use ICT effectively.
