ABSTRACT
The study examined the role of information and communication technology in service delivery in Edo State Ministry of Education. Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has played a significant role in service delivery in various sectors, including the education sector. The Ministry of Education is one of the sectors that have embraced ICT to improve service delivery. Descriptive survey research design was utilized in the research with questionnaires as the method of data collection. The sample size for this study is fifty (5) was drawn purposively from the population. Based on the findings, the study therefore made the following conclusion that contribution in enhancing access to information is monumental, bridging gaps and ensuring that vital knowledge is accessible to all stakeholders. Furthermore, ICT's prowess in facilitating seamless and timely communication cannot be overstated, as it has redefined interactions among educators, students, parents, and administrative personnel. This, in turn, has led to improved collaboration, transparency, and accountability. Equally noteworthy is ICT's impact on data management. The study has illuminated how ICT-driven data systems streamline information storage, analysis, and retrieval, thereby aiding informed decision-making. The study therefore made the following recommendations that the Ministry should invest in robust ICT infrastructure to ensure seamless connectivity and access to information across all educational institutions. Adequate internet connectivity and modern hardware are essential to fully leverage ICT's potential, the ministry of education should implement comprehensive digital literary programs for both educators and students. This will empower them with the necessary skills to effectively utilize digital tools for learning and administrative tasks. There is need for establishment of stringent data security protocols to safeguard sensitive information and protect against cyber threats. Also, there is need for e-learning enhancement to develop and refine e-learning platforms to cater to diverse learning styles and needs. There is need for establishment of feedback mechanisms for stakeholders, including students, parents, and educators, to provide input on ICT initiatives. Finally, there is need for Edo State Ministry of Education to implement a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation of framework to assess the effectiveness of ICT initiative.
