ABSTRACT
This study investigates the role of information and communication technology utilization in the delivery of adult education programmes in Oredo Local government area of Edo State. Four (4) research questions were raised to guide the study. A total of one hundred and fifty (150) participants were selected from five (5) adult education centres in Oredo local government area of Edo State. They were selected through proportionate sampling technique. In this wise, fifty percent (50%) of the population was used as the study’s sample. The major instrument used for this study was the questionnaire. The questionnaire was designed and validated by experts in the department of Adult and Non-formal Education, Faculty of Education University of Benin. Data were analysed using descriptive statistical techniques such as tables, frequencies counts, and simple percentages. Findings of the study revealed that the use of ICT in teaching and learning make it fun, helps to store record what the facilitator ifs teaching, make it easier to for adult learners to hear the facilitator and teaching makes learning content to understand. It was further revealed that the types of ICT available for Adult education programme are; computers and video, smart-phones interactive videos, public address system and television. It was recommended that Government should get more involved in the employment and screening of facilitators to make sure that the right calibers of personnel that are skilled in the use of ICT are involved.it was further recommended that the facilitators need to be constantly trained and retrained on the use of ICT.
