SUMMARY
This study, which was aimed at accessing the role of community leadership and industrialization of Uromi in Esan North East local government of Edo state. The study copiously analysed the background to the study, where the geographical location of Uromi was given. The background to the study also gave the definition of terms “community leadership”. The Aim and objectives of the study was also stated, including the literature review which was exposing other scholars view (published view) on the topic. The rich tradition and culture of the people of Uromi was also highlighted in the course of this study, from their tradition of Origin, to the social organization of the people, to the festivals of the people which include the new yam festival etc. the social activities of the people were included in this study, which include the market structure of the people, the Burial rites and Birth rites, political organization of the people and the religion was also mentioned. The concept of rural industrialization was discoursed in the study.
The study did not leave out major aspects of economic activities in pre-colonial Uromi before the advent of community leadership that that helped transformed the local industries to world class industrial home for large scale economic activities, some of the economic activities include, cloth weaving, Pottery, soap making, Rubber processing. In the post-colonial Uromi new industries with well-equipped machines have taken over the crude implement used by the people all thanks to community leadership.
