THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MEMBERSHIP OF A CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP AND STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN RELIGIOUS STUDIES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BENIN, BENIN CITY, NIGERIA

ABSTRACT

With a focus on students at the University of Benin in Benin City, Edo State, this research set out to examine whether or not there was a correlation between students' participation in Christian fellowships and their grades. Participants were undergraduates at the University of Benin majoring in religious studies. This study used a descriptive survey research approach. Thirty students selected at random from two departments make up the sample, while one hundred students make up the population. With the use of a closed-ended questionnaire, we were able to collect data in response to five research questions and two hypotheses that would later serve as a guide. My supervisor verified the questionnaire, which consisted of twenty questions. The researcher used tables and percentages to analyze the data collected by the delivery of the questionnaire, which she personally delivered. In addition to showing no correlation between Christian fellowship membership and religious studies grades, the research also found no correlation between Christian fellowship membership and religious tolerance.
