ABSTRACT
This research Investigate the Problems and Challenges of Entrepreneurship education in Home economics education, Four research questions were raised to guide the study and one hypothesis was formulated and tested at 0.05 level significance. The study employed a descriptive survey research design. The population of this study comprised 112 Home Economics students in the department of vocational and technical education university of Benin Edo State. The sample for this study was made up of students in home economics education in university of Benin, Edo State. The population was used to form the sample size of the study through proportionate sampling technique. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire. The questionnaire was titled the problems and challenges of Entrepreneurship in Home economics education . The instrument was segmented into two sections, section A and B. Section A covered the demographic information from the students such as; age.. Section B of the research consisted of 20 items used to elicit items related to the research questions. The instrument designed by the researcher was subjected for face validation by the research supervisor and two other experts in the Department of Vocational and Technical Education (VTE), Faculty of Education, University of Benin, Benin City. The reliability of the instrument was obtained using an internal consistency method. This method was done by using Cronbach Alpha Statistics. The instrument was administered to 20 students who are not part of the population. Am alpha value above of 0.85 was obtained which show that the instrument was reliable. The findings were the problems and challenges of Entrepreneurship in Home economics education includes amongst others inadequate funding, Acute shortage of equipment, population up surge, moral laxity among students and social attitude .Entrepreneurship Education which is a type of education geared towards producing a self employed person. Entrepreneurship is integrated in the Home Economics curriculum with the goal of providing sustainable livelihood options to families and alleviating poverty and unemployment in our today society through utilisation of various Entrepreneurship skill in home economics.
