ABSTRACT
Gender-based violence is defined as any harmful act committed against a person based on their gender or how they perceive their place in society. Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is a widespread and concerning issue that affects people all over the world. It encompasses all acts of aggression, damage, or prejudice against people motivated by their gender or the roles they believe they play in society. Physical violence, sexual violence, economic abuse, psychological and emotional abuse, child marriage, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), ６３ human trafficking, intimate relationship violence, domestic violence, female infanticide, and other serious forms of gender-based violence exist. This is a global issue that affects not only women and girls, but also men in our society. Physical health effects of Gender Based Violence include injuries (bruises, cuts, fractures), Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and HIV/AIDS, chronic health problems as a result of long-term abuse, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), which manifests as nightmares, flashbacks, extreme anxiety, depression, panic attacks, a sense of worthlessness, low self-esteem, low self-worth, suicide, self-harm, separation and isolation Cultural practices, state policies, and law enforcement agencies can all contribute to the perpetuation of gender-based violence. In essence, GBV is a widespread problem that affects millions of people worldwide and impedes social, economic, and political participation.
