THE PRESENTATION OF FEMINISM THEN, AND NOW, IN THE MOVIES: SARAH GAVION'S SUFFRAGETTE, NIKI CARO'S MULAN, AND DABBY CHIMERE'S ENOUGH, A COMPARATIVE STUDY.

ABSTRACT

This study is a comparative analysis of the goals of feminism in the past and in the present in Sarah Gavion's 'Suffragette', Niki Caro's 'Mulan' and Dabby Chimere's 'Enough'. It studies these movies as a presentation of feminism in early and contemporary times with a view of understanding feminism goals, to explore the difference between historical waves and contemporary waves of feminism. By examining key aspects such as goals and impact, we seek to understand how feminism has transformed. The work adopts movie analysis to achieve a qualitative research as it uses film subtitle as data from selected movies to draw lessons from feminism past and present. The study finds that, there are nuances in the goals of feminism and there is a shift in social change at the expense of existing norms in Sarah Gavion's 'Suffragette', Niki Caro's 'Mulan' and Dabby Chimere's 'Enough'.
