SUMMARY
On the account of the data's presented and analysed, the use of linguistic theories for the analysis of literary texts has proved to be a success. This is particularly true of proverbs where the linguistic, situational, contextual variables are used for the understanding of the moral significance of the analysed proverbs.This study also reveals that context especially plays a significant role in the understanding of proverbs.
