ABSTRACT

          The study set out to examine the Phonological Influence of L1 on L2using the Edo-English bilinguals as a case study. The purpose of this study is to bring out the phonological Influences of Edo on English so as to show that the L1 can also influence the L2 and not always the other way round. The theoretical framework adopted for this study is the generative phonological framework and this theory serves as the basis for the data analyses. The data collection was done through a one on one interview with the native speakers of Edo(the Edo-English bilinguals. The major result of this study is that there is off course the phonological influence of Edo on English.
