ABSTRACT
This study is on the peculiar situation of Zechariah in Luke 1:1-5 and its Implications for Contemporary Christians in Benin City. The aim was to examine the delayed child-birth experience of Zechariah and Elizabeth as recorded in the first chapter of Luke and to understand its educative lessons for contemporary Christians in Benin City.
The method used in carrying out this research is the historical and analytical approach which enabled the researcher to look into the historical peculiar experience of Zechariah and Elizabeth. Findings from this work showed that the reproach suffered by Zechariah and Elizabeth due to the delay in having a child turned out to be a blessing to them and the entire nation of Israel.
The study recommended amongst many others that Christians should be patient, faithful and hopeful when their marriages experience delay in child birth because it may just be God’s way of unleashing profound blessings upon them at the appointed time.
