ABSTRACT

The question of whether or not metaphysical language is meaningful or asserts something intelligible is a fascinating one. Metaphysical language is used to refer to realities or account for realities beyond the human sense experience. In our world today, how can we prove that such a language, which goes beyond the human sphere of human reason, is meaningful. Metaphysical language has been defended in some quarters and critically condemned in others mostly by the logical positivists who claim that such language is meaningless because they assert nothing. In this study therefore, I look at the critique leveled against metaphysical language.
