Abstract
This research delves into the critical role of the judiciary as the third estate of the realm, focusing on the specific context of the Edo State Judiciary. Through a comprehensive analysis, it evaluates the challenges and prospects faced by the Edo State Judiciary in fulfilling its constitutional mandate of ensuring justice and upholding the rule of law. The study employs both qualitative and quantitative research methods, including interviews, surveys, and case studies, to gather data and insights from various stakeholders within the judiciary, legal practitioners, and the public. The findings highlight systemic issues such as case backlog, inadequate infrastructure, and judicial independence, while also exploring potential avenues for reform and improvement. By shedding light on the complexities of the Edo State Judiciary, this research contributes to the broader discourse on the role of the judiciary in promoting democratic governance and protecting fundamental rights at the state level.
