ABSTRACT
The study investigates Informal financial institutions and the growth of small scale enterprises in Edo State. The data was obtained through information gathered with the aid of a questionnaire. The statistical instrument used for the data analysis is the software package for the social sciences.
The findings revealed that there was a positive relationship between cooperative societies and the growth of small scale enterprises in Edo State. Money lenders influence the growth of small scale enterprises in Edo State. Thrift and loan societies affect the growth of small scale enterprises in Edo State. Local bankers influence the growth of small scale enterprises in Edo State.
This study therefore recommends that owners and operators of Small scale enterprises in Edo State that crave growth should leverage the opportunities provided by informal financial institutions to access funding with more favorable conditions.
