ABSTRACT
The study sought to investigate the The Influence of Vocational Skill Training Programme On Women Empowerment in Delta State; five rsearch questions were formulated to guide the study. The study adopted the survey research design method to elicit response from 78 respondents in Delta; the research instrument used for the study is through a likert scaled questionnaire of 24 items; the research instrument as validated by the researcher’s supervisor and two other experts in the department. The research instrument was subjected to to realability through Cronbach Alpha to check the internal consistency of the instrument. A reliability coeefficient of 0.732 was obtained which showed that the instrument was reliable.
The research found out that; Vocational skill training programmes has a posistive impact on women's empowerment in Delta State. The study also showed that these programmes provided practical skills, opportunities for economic self-sufficiency, and increased financial independence. The study further discovered that Vocational skill training programmes were found to contribute significantly to women's overall empowerment. This included reducing dependence on men, enhancing employability, and enabling women to contribute to household income, thereby fostering self-confidence and reliance. The study concluded that; addressing systemic barriers and ensuring inclusivity are essential steps towards harnessing the full potential of vocational programmes and fostering sustainable empowerment and socio-economic development in Delta State.
The study recommended among others that Policymakers should prioritize the development and implementation of policies that promote gender equality and provide support for vocational skill training programmes targeting women. This includes allocating adequate funding, establishing supportive regulatory frameworks, and monitoring program implementation to ensure adherence to gender-sensitive practices.
