The study was carried out to examine “The influence of religious education on students,moral development:with special reference to secondary schools in Egor local Government Area of Edo state.The study adopted the descriptive survey research design.
The population of the study consists of 14670 secondary school students in Egor local government area,Edo state.The sample of study was made up of 290 correspondents who were randomly selected with the use of purposive random sampling technique .A self made closed ended questionnaire was used to generate data for the study.The data was analyzed with the use of percentage.
From the analysis of the data generated for the study,it was discovered that participation in religious education lessons positively influence Students’ moral reasoning ability,ethical values,attitude to moral issues,moral decision making and their overall moral development.Based on these findings,recommendations were made .
