Abstract
The investigation on the influence of practical Activities on Academic performance of Biology Student in Senior Secondary Schools in Ovia North Local Government Area of Edo State, Three (3) research questions served as it's guidelines, and it used a descriptive survey study design. It sought to find out What are the influence of practical Activities on Academic performance of Biology Students? What Issues Arise in Teaching of Practical Biology Activities in Senior Secondary Schools? What Are the Possible way of enhancing Students knowledge on Practical Biology?
The study employed a sample of Biology students in Ovia North Local Government Area of EDO State and a total of (150) respondents which were collected from two public schools and two private schools. The researcher developed questionnaire titled Questionnaire on "influence of practical Activities on Academic performance of Biology Student in Senior Secondary Schools" was used as the data collection tool. There are fifteen (15) items on the questionnaire. To analyze the data collected, descriptive statistics such as mean and frequency were used.
The study find out that When practical Activities takes place in the classroom, secondary school students are interested in learning, When teacher-student relationships are improved, student academic achievement is increased. It was suggested that Students should be reoriented on the significance and value of practicals activities in the classroom, Both teachers and students should have access to workshops where they can go for practical Activities, The government should make an effort to hire qualified teachers who can instruct students on how to go about practical activities in the laboratory.
