ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to examine the Influence of peer pressure on youth involvement in internet fraud. This research provides an overview of existing research on influence of peer pressure on youth involvement in internet fraud in different faculties in the university of Benin. This study focused on identifying the impact of peer pressure on youth involvement in internet fraud varying across different demographics.To examine this issue, the researcher adopted a descriptive survey research design using a correlational approach. The population for the study was (8690) in the faculties of Education, law and Environmental science surveying a sample of 150 students selected from each of these faculties using a questionnaire. The results of the regression analysis revealed that peer influence significantly contributes to youth's involvement in internet fraud. Due to youth's interest in easy wealth, they are subjected to participate in internet fraud die to the fact that their peers already participate in this act. The instrument yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.799. The instruments was administered students and data collected were analysed using simple percentage and statistical frequency table..
The study's findings showed that peer influence is a significant factor that contributes to youth's involvement in internet fraud. This. Also indicates that peer pressure plays a vital role in their participation in internet fraud as some of them looks up to their friend's lifestyle and wants to do the exact thing they are doing to live such lavish lifestyles.
This research work recommended educational awareness programmes as this helps keep them enlightened. This study also suggested skill development and employment opportunities, Educating of parents and guardians to create a supportive environment that encourages good decision making and also watch out for signs of internet fraud. support of ongoing research and evaluation programs.
