ABSTRACT
Using a descriptive research methodology, this investigation examined the impact of peer groups on 100-level students' academic performance at the University of Benin. A random sampling technique was utilized to select approximately sixty History and English & Literature first-year students who completed questionnaires for data collection. The simple percentage method analyzed these results which indicated that one's social circle can either improve or decrease their grades in school. As such, it is suggested that guardians and educators should guide young adults appropriately about how associating with certain individuals may influence scholastic success."
