ABSTRACT
This study was conducted to examine the influence of information and communication technology in the teaching of human kinetics and sports science in the University of Benin. the influence of information and communication technology on human kinetics and sports students in the University of Benin. This study made use of the descriptive survey research design. The population of the study consisted hundred (100) students which is also the sample respondents for the study. The instrument for data collection for this study was a self-constructed close-ended questionnaire the researcher's supervisors were part of the validation team. Data obtained from the study were analysed using mean score analysis. It was found during the course of the study that ICT equipment and facilities for teaching human kinetics and sports are not available in the University of Benin. Interactive learning, a better understanding of bio-mechaincs, access to global sports training techniques, and effective performance analysis are the the benefits of integrating ICT in the teaching of Human Kinetics and Sports. Introduction of motion analysis software to improve physical skills, introduction of virtual reality to provide sports simulation, utilization of wearable technology for monitoring progress, introduction of smartboards to enhance classroom instruction and the introduction of pedometer to assess physical activity are the ways ways can ICT be effectively integrated into the teaching of Human Kinetics and Sports. On the basis of the findings, it was concluded that the absence of ICT equipment and facilities for teaching Human Kinetics and Sports at the University of Benin limits the potential for interactive learning, advanced biomechanical understanding, access to global sports training techniques, and effective performance analysis. Integrating ICT into the teaching of Human Kinetics and Sports would enhance the learning experience through motion analysis software, virtual reality simulations, wearable technology, smartboards, and pedometers, all of which can significantly improve students' understanding and performance in the field. On the basis of the conclusion, it was recommended that ICT facilities and equipment should be provided to enhance interactive learning and sports performance analysis. Motion analysis software, smartboards, and virtual reality systems should be made available to improve teaching and training. Lecturers and coaches should be trained on the effective use of ICT in sports education to ensure maximum benefits in teaching and skill development. Workshops and professional development programs should be organized regularly. Collaboration with international sports technology organizations should be established to provide access to cutting-edge training techniques and tools. Partnerships should be facilitated to enhance the use of modern ICT in Human Kinetics and Sports.
