ABSTRACT
This study examines the impact of guidance and counselling services on the career choice of secondary school students in Egor Local Governement of Edo state. The variables of the study include age, sex, parents’ socio-economic status, and school ownership of secondary school students in Egor local government area of Edo state Benin City. The research design adopted for this study was a quantitative and descriptive survey design with public and private secondary student from Egor local government forming the population of the study. The sample was drawn using convenient and simple random sampling technique to obtain a sample of 200 students. The research instrument was designed by the research to elicit information on the influence of guidance and counselling services on career choice of secondary school students. The questionnaire contained two sections with one relating to the student’s demography and the other on the influence of guidance and counselling services on the career Choice of secondary school students. The instrument was validated by the project supervisor and two other experts in the field of guidance and counselling. It was also found to have high reliability with a coefficient of 0.558 cronch alpha. Analysis was carried out using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and the results were presented using simple percentage and descriptive statistics. The hypothesis raised was tested using the One-way ANOVA.
